Why Disapproved · Last updated July 17, 2026
Why Disapproved (“the app”, “we”) is a Shopify app that audits a merchant’s product catalog for issues that cause Google Shopping to disapprove products. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.
What we access
- Store product data — via the
read_productsscope, the app reads your products, variants, prices, images and related fields to run its checks. This access is read-only: Why Disapproved never edits your products, your feed, or any other store data. - Store identity & session — your store domain and a Shopify-issued access token, required to authenticate the app inside your admin.
What we store
- Scan results — the outcome of each audit: which rules were triggered, and the IDs and titles of the affected products, so the report can be displayed and compared over time.
- Session records — the authentication data above.
Why Disapproved does not collect, store, or process any of your customers’ personal data.
How we use it
Data is used solely to provide the audit service to you inside your Shopify admin. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.
Data retention & deletion
When you uninstall the app, your session records are deleted immediately. In line with Shopify’s data-protection requirements, all remaining data we hold for your store (scan history) is erased within 48 hours of uninstall, on receipt of Shopify’s shop/redact request. Because we store no customer personal data, customer data requests and redaction requests have no personal data to return or erase.
Sub-processors
The app runs on a dedicated server and uses Shopify’s APIs. No analytics or advertising trackers are embedded in the app.
